What We’re Doing Now
- Clear visitor information: Hours, directions and exhibit details are posted online and at the Centre so visitors can plan their visit comfortably.
- Friendly, supportive volunteers: Staff and volunteers are available to assist with questions, wayfinding and general support during visits.
- Flexible, low‑sensory options: Visitors are welcome to move through the exhibits at their own pace, step outside if needed and re‑enter freely.
- Cultural respect: We acknowledge the Mi’kmaq territory in which we operate and are working toward building relationships with local community members for future collaboration and guidance.
- Physical access transparency: The Interpretive Centre is ground‑level and easy to enter; and we clearly communicate any limitations in our facilities so visitors can make informed decisions.
- Continuous learning: As a volunteer organization, we are actively seeking advice and opportunities to improve accessibility and inclusion in our exhibits, programming, and events.
Our Ongoing Goals
- Strengthen relationships with local Mi’kmaq communities.
- Explore ways to make our exhibits more accessible to visitors with diverse needs.
- Continue improving signage, communication and visitor support based on community feedback.
